Who Are We: About TNP

True North Psychology was born out of a desire to provide effective, evidence-based treatment to our local communities. True North, usually denoted with a five-pointed star, represents your desired goal. Clinicians at True North aim to provide our clients with the keys and tools to reach their goals, to find their way.

True North Psychology had humble beginnings in 2011 with a single clinician (Lyndon) working a single day in a suburban GP surgery. True North Psychology was registered in 2013 and, in 2014, with growing demand for services, True North took on additional psychologists, one of whom was Jasmin (now a Co-Director of the clinic with Lyndon).

In 2015 TNP moved to it’s own small clinic space in the leafy green Wilston village. As the practice grew in both clients and clinicians, we undertook a major upgrade and renovation of the office space with a focus on greenery (only real plants are accepted!), natural light and comfortable and aesthetically pleasing surrounds.

TNP remains a strongly values-based organisation. A core value for us is around sustainability, extending into how we value and nurture our staff.

We welcome you to True North Psychology and look forward to helping you to find your way.

Our Clients

TNP was always conceived as a generalist clinic, in that we hope to be able to provide treatment for a broad range of issues. That being said, TNP has developed a
few key areas of expertise including the treatment of those struggling with suicidality and self-harm, eating disorders, and meeting the specific needs of our LGBTIQAP+ communities.

Our Referrers

We have a well-established referral network of over 350 GP’s, psychiatrists and allied health professionals across South-East Queensland. We have face-to-face meetings, information sharing and informal catch-ups with our referrers to remain connected. We share our referral network with our clinicians to support their business growth and stability.

You can trust them to provide a seamless service for marketing, managing enquiries, dynamic diary management, billing and client experience. Our established policies and procedures ensure a high quality of service and administrative support so you can focus on your clients while in the office and know the team will take care of their needs during your down time.

Our Directors

Jasmin and Lyndon set the tone for a supportive and inclusive workplace. For them, leadership is about caring deeply for every team member who chooses to become part of TNP. They are dedicated to maintaining a clinic where everyone—clinicians and admin alike—feels safe, valued, and encouraged to grow into their unique strengths. They have a strong commitment to protecting work-life balance, and Jasmin and Lyndon are always approachable; you can find them in clinic any time to listen, support and share a friendly chat.

Our Inclusions

True North Psychology prides itself on fostering a collegial atmosphere and a healthy work life balance, in a location where you can progress your career.

Business Mentoring

We support you in establishing your career in private practice through a 6-week business mentoring induction. After that, you'll have a dedicated point of contact for all human resource enquiries, as well as access to our clinical team leader and directors for any ad-hoc support, at any time.

Sustainability

Our clinicians can work mornings or afternoons, from 2-5 days per week, offering you the flexibility to engage in additional work in alternate locations, academic pursuits, or lifestyle choices outside of work. We book a maximum of 5 clients per day, to ensure a healthy and sustainable approach to workload.

Professional Development & Supervision

We have a regular in-house professional development series, monthly peer group supervision, and the option for 1-on-1 supervision to support your registration or clinical/counselling registrar program requirements. Opportunities for career progression in supervision and team leadership are available.

Caseload Management

Support to build and refine your caseload through targeted marketing and relationship-building with established referral networks, allowing you to work with the type of clients and supervisees that you choose. We use web-based patient management software, referral systems and feedback informed treatment software. Team leaders provide ongoing feedback and support for caseload management.

Collegiality

The kitchen and adjoining break room are the heart of our office. In this
space we gather for birthday cake, coffee, and a never-ending supply of Maltesers and find that much ad-hoc learning occurs through these casual interactions. Beyond this, we have an open-door policy to encourage connection and collegiality. We
connect virtually through Slack groups and share resources via our intraweb. We welcome the team to get together for regular social gatherings, as well as ad-hoc lunch time socials throughout the year.

Want to hear from our team members?

Testimonials aren't our style... saying we love working here feels cheesy and ingenuous!

If you are curious to hear what it feels like to work at True North Psychology, we encourage you to come and have a coffee with a team member of your choosing.

Call Lyndon or send a text message and organise a coffee meetup on 0431638417.
