Jenny is a clinical psychology registrar who works with children and adults. She is interested in structuring therapy to align with every person’s needs, ensuring the process is personalised, goal-oriented and highly effective.

In particular, Jenny feels it is important to consider cultural upbringing when working with clients. Having been raised in Sydney by Chinese-Vietnamese parents, Jenny draws on her lived experience to understand the unique values and perspectives and challenges that shape the experiences of first- and second-generation Australians. This might include:

  • Navigating family conflicts and boundaries

  • Managing feelings of pressure in personal or academic settings

  • Meeting family or cultural expectations

  • Differing values between generations

  • Addressing expectations around dating and relationships

  • Finding confidence in expressing personal thoughts and feelings

  • Developing independence while honouring family and cultural values as a young adult

Jenny is dedicated to creating a supportive space to explore vulnerable thoughts, feelings, and reactions. Jenny believes that working together collaboratively will help to achieve long lasting change.

Jenny can help people with:

  • Anxiety Disorders: Including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, academic anxiety, and phobias including vomiting (emetophobia).

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): Intrusive thoughts and compulsions, including contamination, “just right”, pedophilia, relationship OCD, checking and symmetry OCD.

  • Emotional Difficulties: Including intense and quickly changing emotions, dissociation, and difficulties identifying and understanding emotions.

  • Anger Difficulties: Including becoming quick to anger, aggressive communication and difficulties with relaxing.

  • Depression and Low Self-Esteem: Including low mood, self-worth issues (e.g., “not good enough”, “I am a failure”), low motivation, people-pleasing traits, and passive communication.

  • Perfectionism: Including high personal standards that result in low self-esteem, procrastination and self-sabotage.

With children, Jenny loves to use fun (including games) and creativity to share ideas about psychology. She believes this helps children to learn best and encourages them to develop a positive identity.

Jenny’s therapeutic approach is informed by evidence, and she has published several research articles within the mental health space. She offers:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
